Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the Avoca Police Reserve played a role in the colonial expansion of Victoria which resulted in the dispossession and alienation of Country from its traditional owners the Dja Dja Wurrung. Our intent is to confront this reality and make genuine steps towards reconciliation.

The Property


6 Davy Street, Avoca

Designated in 1859 as an administrative and law enforcement precinct, the Avoca Police Reserve includes a Police Residence, Powder Magazine and Lock-up.

We were appointed managers of the property in 2003 and since then we have played an active role in protecting the site’s cultural significance through conservation of the site’s buildings and landscape.

Use

The property is currently used as a private residence.

Visiting the Property

The building’s interiors are currently closed for visitation.
