Jack's Magazine is to host a two-day event as part of NGV Melbourne Design Week.

'Jack's reloaded: material as memory', is a unique, site-specific exhibition co-curated by Georgia Nowak and Eugene Perepletchikov - in partnership with Working Heritage, City of Maribyrnong and Open House Melbourne.  It will be taking place at Jack's Magazine in Maribyrnong on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March 2019, from 10am to 5pm, as part of NGV Design Week.  Book through Eventbrite via the NGV website.

The exhibition will incorporate moving images, sound and installation works. Designers, artists and guest speakers will examine and extrapolate - within the framework of deep time - Victoria's cultural narratvies be way of an analysis of the material history of basalt. This igneous, extrusive rock has shaped the Victorian landscape and been reshaped by humans, transforming it into foundations, iconic buildings, streets and footpaths in the form of bluestone.

A public talk will take place on Saturday 23 March 2019 from 2pm to 3pm.  Speakers will be  Professor Ross Gibson, Timothy Edensor, Stephanie Trigg and Dr Laura Harper.

Open House Melbourne is running a river cruise to Jack's Magazine on Sunday 24 March 2019. Visit the Commuter Afloat event page to make a booking.
