Ballan Courthouse

A revived country courthouse

45–47 Steiglitz Street, Ballan

Today

The Ballan Courthouse is used by the Ballan Shire Historical Society local history record and resource centre.

Yesterday

Built from 1872-76 the building is one of the earliest remaining small courthouses in country Victoria.

The future

Ballan Courthouse was showing signs of its 140 years of use and received a new lease of life through major conservation works in late 2015. The works involved underpinning the existing footings, re-plastering and repair of brickwork. The Ballan Shire Historical Society have now moved themselves and their collections back into building.
